Love, Craft & Kollage : Teneille Prosper and a Tapestry of Tensions
This is a critique of the piece using the artist’s prior art work in a digital collage in reference to their stated artist inspiration and statements. This critique holds my own bias and serves as a template for transparency and a window into my own interpretation as a conscious artist and journalist. It is not exhaustive, and is art in its own light that should be critiqued itself. This critique is an experiment to observe the artists work from a holistic perspective and to observe elements of their work in reference to a larger social context. Perhaps this form of critique can provide insight into observing art that expresses political language in a more truthful sense, and hopefully if you are an artist you may enjoy the new presentation of information.
This Critique is set to continue and grow. As I have developed it. I have had the opportunity reflect on our sociopolitical landscape through the lens of Prosper’s art. I use thematic mapping to show connections between her visual elements and symbols in the context of her other works and inspirations and reflect on them myself. This again is not exhaustive, but meant to show my own perceived patterns as a spectator.
