This is a tool to teach, with openness, transparency and permanent infrastructure that community can use conceptually in perpetuity. This is in part a newsroom but also a public governance project that understands the needs of the moment amidst a rapidly changing world. Unfettered, justified, honest, critical and with only our futures to protect.
Our primary goal in this project is to expand the human capacity for self care and self defense in an increasingly hostile and violent environment. Alternative media is the forefront against normalizing the dystopia legacy media consistently attempts to numb us into via the tone deaf inundation of irrelevant or disingenuously framed stories.
What this publication is
This publication is innovating journalism to meet the moment through a critical lens not only by breaking the stale and regressive frames conjured by legacy media, but taking a proactive approach to shaping our material realities. Noirlands is for the proactive citizen interested in taking a role in shaping a better democracy through equitable participation, transparency, and creative tactics. We believe this is essential especially in places that have been historically disenfranchised through traditional citizens; so we are starting with the information we consume.
